So you heard about the Ambit business and decided to do some research. Good for you! Before I get into my thoughts on Ambit let me just tell you that I have actually profited from energy deregulation and can show you how to take advantage of this tremendous transfer of wealth. The information in this article is strictly based on my opinion, but if you take heed, it can benefit you greatly. Enjoy!
Ambit Energy is just one of the many companies offering a business opportunity in the deregulated energy market. Deregulated energy gives consumers, in applicable states, the ability to choose who supplies their electricity and/ or natural gas. Their current utility still distributes and bills them, so nothing really changes. So if you lived in the one of the states Ambit is offered such as Illinois, Texas, New York, New Jersey, Maryland or Pennsylvania, you could choose them as your energy supplier. Additionally, you have the option to sign up as an Independent Consultant and earn income by acquiring customers and sponsoring other Consultants.
Ambit Business Pros
What I like most about Ambit is their rates. They simply offer customers very competitive rates. Another attractive incentive as a customer is Ambit’s rewards program. If you can refer a minimum of 15 paying customers Ambit will give you a credit towards your bill. You’ll also be able to earn a number of travel rewards. In our present world, referral marketing can do wonders for companies to increase business and Ambit is utilizing this approach successfully.
As a Consultant, Ambit offers a fantastic training program. This is important to note because training and support is one of the most crucial components you’ll need in order to succeed in any new business endeavor. Most people who join the Ambit business have never owned a business, nor have had any experience in energy. The leadership of the company does a great job of getting new folks started the right way.
Ambit Business Cons
The main issue that troubles me most is the entry fee to become an Independent Consultant. If you wanted to join the Ambit business, earn income, etc. you must first pay $399 plus $30 for a start up kit. If you wanted to have a personal website that would cost you an additional $24.95/ month. So at the end of one year if you did nothing you would have paid $728.40! Now of course I’m assuming you would do everything in your power to recoup your initial investment and start profiting, but there’s no guarantee you’ll get people to enroll as your business partner.
The main problem with fee based programs like Ambit is that the fees paid by new Consultants are the basis for the majority of bonuses paid to the field. This is network marketing yes, but understand there is NO product involved! I could see if you spent $400, got some vitamins delivered to your home, and then paid a monthly fee to keep getting product. But again THERE IS NO PRODUCT!
The Truth
The only way you are going to seriously prosper in deregulated energy and be able to earn a passive income, that grows month after month, is from customers. He or she who has the most customers at the end of the day will earn the most money, period. You might have a few good months in the Ambit business, but that income you earn will not be sustainable. Most top earners in pay-to-play programs are placing a constant emphasis on recruiting. If there isn’t a steady stream of new people joining, forking up a few hundred, then their income drops.
So does Ambit ultimately offer value to customers? Absolutely! The rewards and incentives are great, but the fees to join Ambit as a Consultant and build your business will actually hold you back in the long run. Realize there are companies out there right now, offering the same opportunity in deregulated energy as the Ambit business, without charging upfront and monthly fees. With no barrier to energy this can do wonders for your long term growth and get you closer to true residual income.
So would I recommend joining Ambit? As a customer, sure. But to build a business…save your money!
