If you haven’t been told this yet, MLM is all about selling. Selling products and selling yourself through personal branding. The sad reality of this industry is that over 90% of people in MLM have NO CLUE how to sell. So when someone new enters the MLM industry, with zero sales experience, they typically will experience rejection by prospects and not sell anything. The people who constantly improve their selling skills and take consistent action are the ones that make up the top 10% of the leading income earners in the entire industry.
Fortunately for anyone in MLM the skill of selling can be learned. No one is born and then magically reaches the top earner status of their company. Selling is a skill that is practiced and through experience, is refined and mastered. I wanted to include 7 of the most effective tips I could give you to increase your MLM sales, no matter what your company sells.
Some of these tips are mentioned by the legendary sales consultant, Brian Tracy, who has helped thousands of sales professionals from all over the globe. Brian’s number one key to selling more is to always work while you are working.
1. Get Serious About Your Work – You have to actively make the decision to be the top of your field. This requires you to lose the people holding you back, eliminate bad habits and work at an optimum level during working hours. Decrease the amount of idle time you spend during the day and always ask yourself if what you are doing right now is leading to a sale.
2. Identify Your Limiting Skill – You must identify the one skill, that if mastered, can double or triple your income. You then will work on that skill until it becomes second nature. Your self confidence will go up and so will your income. Over time, you will have mastered multiple skills and your income and producer status will become a direct reflection of this.
3. Increase Your Enthusiasm – If you are not enthusiastic about your company’s product or service how can you expect your prospect to be enthusiastic? Any top producer has energy and a good vibration that is picked up by their prospects. You must begin to show more enthusiasm during the day. Exercise, good eating habits and adequate rest can help accomplish this.
4. Begin Affirming Yourself – If you are having a hard time being enthusiastic then positive affirmations might be the key. We humans are creatures of habit and our minds have been conditioned through years and years of influence. In order to change any delimiting influences we have had in our life all we have to do is consistently feed our minds with affirmations. Do this over and over and your mind will change and you will sell more.
5. Emphasize Value Over Price – When presenting your products or services focus on the value over the price. Customers will typically not care about price just as long as the product or services provides a great benefit. The next time someone asks you what your company offers make sure that you explain the benefit instead of just how much it costs.
6. Implement Scarcity – When selling you will want to reinforce that there is always a limited supply of your product or service. This causes your customer to want it even more because they will feel special about owning what you offer. ‘While supplies last’ is a classic example of using scarcity to sell more products and services.
7. Implement Urgency – Customers are known to put off buying for any amount of time. It is your job to convey urgency and that your customer will lose something or miss out on something if they do not take action now. Usually this is the case, depending on the exact benefit of your product or service and the solution it provides.
These 7 tips are very powerful and can increase your MLM sales, if you put them to use. The choice is up to you. You can either be in the top 10% or in the bottom 90%.
