Deregulated energy is hot right now and expanding all over the United States. There are many players in the game and plenty of companies that are using the powerful network marketing model to acquire their customers. You may have heard of some of these companies including Ignite, Viridian, North American Power, AMA Nation, Ampegy, Avion, Ambit Energy and plenty of others. The following steps will show you exactly how to prosper from deregulated energy, in the fastest way possible, without breaking the bank. Enjoy! 
Step 1 – Pick The Right Company
This step is particularly important because if you decide to put any effort into an energy business opportunity, you will want to ensure you won’t be wasting time or money. There have been plenty of companies to emerge because of deregulated energy and close their doors very quickly because they lacked the following:
- Past Experience – The company must have experienced upper management in the energy industry that will help guarantee longevity.
- Proven Leadership – The company must have competent leadership that will be capable of aiding expansion in a given area. Proven leadership in network marketing is a bonus, but not a requirement. You just need people who are capable of making the necessary things happen and putting you in a position to profit.
- Good Compensation – The company must have a compensation plan that is fair and lucrative. (If you do this amount of work, you’ll get paid this amount.) Additionally, ensure the compensation offered will never cut you out of pay you rightfully deserve, (i.e. – a rep in your team gets promoted and you get paid less).
- Training and Support - This is paramount! The company you are investigating must have the people and resources in place to help you succeed. More specifically, there must be a system available that you can easily plug into and start getting results. (more on systems below)
Step 2 – Create Your List
No doubt you have probably heard this hundreds of times, especially if you have been in a network marketing company before. Think of everyone you know and write their names on a list! It may sound funny and you might even dismiss this step, but when it comes to your energy business you will not want to take this step lightly. Creating a list of people you have a relationship with is the foundation to your business. The reason it doesn’t work so well in most product-based companies is because the people you are approaching usually don’t have a real need for the product your company sells and they have to pay an auto-ship each month to buy the product. In most energy companies there is no auto-ship. People you bring into the business should not have to pay money. All they must do to join is sign up their electricity/ natural gas bill. (On a side note – if you are researching a company charges upfront and monthly fees, don’t join.)
Step 3 – Make 3 Exposures Per Day (or more)
After you create your list the next step is to systematically expose people to your energy business. Your company will more than likely have plenty of resources for you to use such as a video on your website, conference calls, webinar presentations, hotel meetings, home meetings and regional events. Ask your sponsor which exposure tool is the most effective and begin to use it immediately!
Here’s a word of caution. Many people make the mistake of not exposing people on their list properly. You may have been guilty of this yourself. You send someone a link to your website through email, a text message or even your Facebook page. The result is that no one watches your video, doesn’t respond to you and ultimately doesn’t join your business. You must ensure that when you approach someone on your list that you either speak with them in person or on the phone. You must have their word they will take the action you are asking for. Think for a second about how any deal gets done – you usually have to speak to someone in person, period.
Step 4 – Follow The System & Duplicate
In addition to effective exposure tools your company and/ or team should have some kind of system for you to plug into. Systems are the essence of duplication and will allow you to eventually have a business that operates on it’s own, whether you work or not. Bottom line, if people who just join can’t follow the system, and even worse, can’t make money right away, then there probably is a major issue that needs to be addressed.
Step 5 - Commit To Training
Training is crucial to long term growth not only for you, but also for your team. Understand, most people who join energy companies looking to prosper from deregulation have never run a business before. They have habits of employees, which is the primary reason for most people quitting and not getting results. They simply do not possess the mentality to do the small things consistently, day after day, to reap the financial rewards in this type of business. You might call this procrastination. The elixir to combat this deadly procrastination is training. Committing to training will help you become that person who is valuable and worthy of the big money. It will also grow you a team of capable action-takers, that get RESULTS!
