You can watch a few videos from members, a few videos about the product line, but you still really can’t find any solid information on what Melaleuca is.  This is something that strikes me as extremely odd because many potential  business owners will go to the main site first when doing their research.  From my own research, this is what I have gathered.  Melaleuca is a health and wellness company that uses the network marketing/ MLM business model to distribute products.  The company has been around since 1985 and because they do not advertise, that money goes towards scientific research, allowing Melaleuca to produce very high quality products.  Their product line consists of over 350 products that range from body lotion, household cleaners, deodorant, energy bars, diet drinks and much more.  Pretty much a lot of household consumables you would purchase each month.  Melaleuca products are meant to be safer, greener and more effective than most products you find in your local grocery store.  Paired with the product line is the business opportunity that allows the distributors to earn commissions on product volume sold.

Do The Products Actually Work?

After the research I performed and many customer testimonials I read, I would say absolutely.  The company’s entire mission is to provide people with products of higher value and of higher safety compared to more popular product alternatives.  Melaleuca would also not have as many dedicated customers if the products did not work.  Out of the different health and wellness companies in the industry this one definitely stands out.  They stick to their mission and always keep the customer as their number one priority.  This is quite obvious from the quality of each and every product they sell.  If you have been considering using any Melaleuca products I would conduct some research on each one and if you feel it is a good fit, then try them out. Melaleuca is also similar to a discount shopping club like Cost Co.  You pay a one time fee of $29 and can then get 30-40% discounts on most products.  They uses a point system when you purchase product.  35 product points can get you 5-7 products each month and will cost you between $50-70.  You can pick the products you want each month and will probably stay within the 35 product points.

How Does The Business Opportunity Work?

Melaleuca, like most network marketing companies allows you the distributor to get paid two basic ways.  Number one you earn commissions on new customers enrolled.  Two, you earn commissions on new distributors sponsored onto your team.  Your objective is to sell as much product as possible and increase your overall organizational volume.  It becomes fairly easy to increase your product volume sold because people are using the products each and every month and buying more.  The compensation plan is pretty generous.  This is because they do not advertise.  Plus with the network marketing business model, they are able to cut out most of the middle men and give back to their distributors.  The products ship from the company and goes right to the customer.  You, as a distributor, get compensated well.

Your Marketing Approach

Like many other network marketing companies it will suggested to you that you tell your warm market about the products and the company.  This includes your family, friends, coworkers, etc.  Now typically I would not advocate this approach because this is the fastest way to go broke in any network marketing company, but I feel I have to go against the grain here.  This is because of the product line and long positive track record of the company.  You honestly would be able to have a lot of success selling product just by referring your warm market.  This is because the majority of the people you will speak to will see the value of the product and probably spend about the same price as they would if they continued shopping at another store.  So because the product sells itself, you could use referrals and word-of-mouth marketing.  Just remember, this is not applicable for every company.

Final Thoughts

All in all I would say that Melaleuca is an excellent company.  They have great upper management and a superior track record, that dates all the way back to 1985.  Not a lot of network marketing companies can say that.  Regarding the products, I feel that Melaleuca has something very special and unique.  The products help thousands of people, are very safe and are reasonably priced.  I would highly recommend you become a customer if you want a safer and more effective alternative to products you currently use.  If you feel that the business opportunity is right for you then go ahead and give it a try.  But if you do, just ensure that you have a good marketing plan in place.
