5 MLM Prospecting Tips Guaranteed To Help You Sponsor More Reps.

The topic of discussion is prospecting.  Why is this important to you?  It is important because knowing how to prospect the right way can get you more sign-ups and more money for your MLM business.

What Is Prospecting Really?

Prospecting, especially in any MLM home business, is mostly about sorting.  Finding the right kind of people that you would want to join your business.  Because let’s get real here.  Not everyone you speak to is going to be a good fit for YOUR business.  They may even be a potential risk or a major pain-in-the-ass.  You’re not in this industry to babysit, right?  Of course not.  So that is why it is so vital for you to learn how to prospect the right way.  You want to bring in professionals and go-getters, not whiners and complainers.

So what is the best way to prospect?  Thought you would never ask.  After careful selection, I have included 5 of the top prospecting tips that I have learned over the last 3 years that I believe can give you a significant advantage over the masses.

Tip #1 – Position Yourself With Power

Remember that this is your business and you are looking for people to work with YOU.  Position yourself as the expert and conduct your prospecting as an interview process.  Every big corporation does, why shouldn’t you?  This will create more appeal in the mind of your prospect.  Also, don’t be afraid to let go.  If a prospect doesn’t seem like a good fit then send him or her on their way and move on.  Create an abundance mentality and always know there are plenty more prospects that will come your way.

Tip #2 – Ask Better Questions

The bigger and better your questions, the better answers you will receive.  You will want to ask your prospect questions such as why do they want to start a business, what are their strengths and how motivated are they to make things happen.  You have to dig deep to see if this prospect has what you are looking for.  From the answers you receive you will be able to better determine whether this prospect is serious or just another faker who will seem excited for the first 2 weeks and then trail off, never to be heard from again.

Tip #3 – Treat Your Business Like A Business

If you want to earn REAL money then start treating your business like a REAL business.  Do not treat it like a hobby.  This means that you will want to set specific hours, complete daily tasks on time and be extremely professional when dealing with your prospects.  They will be able to tell whether you are serious and somebody they would want to work with or if you are just another MLM poser trying to make a quick buck.

Tip #4 – Listen

This is what most home based business owners are never taught.  They are told to buy leads, advertise and cold call, but are never told to listen.  Listening is a vital skill you must learn to do if you ever hope to earn a full time income in this industry.  You will want to actively listen for clues from your prospect that tell you whether or not they are a good prospect.  As the saying goes, we have two ears and one mouth, therefore we should listen twice as much.

Tip #5 – Use 3rd Party Validation

Have you ever talked to someone who seemed interested in your program, but by the end of your conversation they seemed skeptical?  This is where you can use 3rd party validation to solve this problem.  You can accomplish this in a number of ways.  Send your prospect to a presentation, do a 3-way call with one of your upline members who is more successful than you are or you can invite them to a live training call where they can see for themselves what the company is all about.  It’s not necessarily true that your prospect doesn’t trust you, they just want other people to help confirm their decision.  For example, say you were thinking of buying a new grill (business opportunity).  You went to the store and noticed there was a huge selection of grills (all the MLM companies out there) and it seemed overwhelming.  But there was another customer in the store who owned one of the grills you were looking at and said it was a great grill (third party validation).  This would help with your decision to buy the grill.

I hope these 5 tips will help you in the future, as I know they have been absolutely paramount in the breakthroughs I have experienced.  One last thought.  In addition to implementing these tips always work on yourself more than anything and remain committed to your business.  The only thing separating you from a 7 figure annual earner, is time.  Till next time my friend.
