Why Is Recruiting So Important?
MLM recruiting is an essential part of you building a successful business. The prospects you recruit will be working directly on your team and you want to recruit only the highest caliber of person. Sure you get paid for every new distributor sponsored into your organization, but you will also want to exercise a degree of selectivity when you are prospecting. You must understand that you are building a business. Does the CEO of a major corporation just hire anybody? Of course not. That is why the interview process is there in the first place. So when you talk to people you want to essentially look at it like you are interviewing them.
Important Recruiting Guidelines
These guidelines are going to focus on when you are talking to prospects.
1. Remember your position. You are the business owner and you are looking for people to go into business with. This is where good posture comes in.
2. Control the conversation. Remember that you are the person who is dictating the tempo and control of the conversation. Keep that in mind when talking to prospects. You can easily lose focus and end up letting the prospect control the call.
3. Ask the questions. You are the interviewer. Ensure that you are asking questions and learning more about this particular prospect. You want to determine what has motivated them for wanting to start a business, what type of person they are, how serious they are, previous accomplishments and anything else that is going to make a direct impact on whether you sign this person up or not.
4. Handle objections confidently. If you don’t know the answer to something, point your prospect in the right direction to obtain the answer. Possibly an upline member, website or other resource that supplies the answer.
5. Have a relaxed confidence. By doing this you put you and your prospect in a position of ease. You don’t want to come off needy because you’re prospect will be able to detect this. People want to join someone with MLM leadership, not someone who is needy.
6. Be willing to let some people go. Many of the people you interview will not be a good fit for your business, for whatever reason. You as a business owner and entrepreneur have to be willing to let these people go. It’s funny how this works, but the person who cares the least will receive the most. Your prospects will find you more attractive because you could care less whether they join you or not.
Here are some guidelines for the types of prospects you want to be targeting.
1. Look for people who are already successful. These types of people already possess the skills and character traits of a leader and would be a perfect fit for your business. These people already ‘get it’ and will prove to be a valuable member of your team.
2. Be selective. You don’t necessarily want to just try and recruit anyone. By doing this you are sacrificing quality for quantity. Always remember that you are building a business. You want to recruit business builders. Plus, if you do recruit just anyone chances are most of these people will quit. So they just wasted their time as well as yours. You want to allot your time only to people who are worth your time. People who are serious, motivated and strive to win.
3. Position yourself to be found by leaders. A lot of recruiting has to deal with the psychology of prospecting. If you position yourself properly, you can get noticed by other leaders, people perfect for you business. You have to remember that there are tons of people out there who want to start a business and have all the right skills to bring to the table. You just have to get your message out there and have these people find you. You can do this using attraction marketing either online or offline. This makes you and your business opportunity attractive to the right kinds of people.
MLM recruiting does not have to be hard. The important thing to remember is that this is your business and you determine who you want to work with.
