If you are a network marketer and all you ever talk about is how great your company is, how good your product is and how your compensation plan is the best, you might as well just throw in the towel. This might seem harsh, but you need a wake up call. The truth of the matter is that your prospects do not care about any of this. All they care about is whether or not you can show them how to make money.
This fact is not applicable just to network marketing. It is a universal fact that can be applied to any company no matter what product or service they sell, in any industry. People don’t care about your product or company because all they really care about is themselves. They only care about how this product or service will benefit them. People rarely care about a product, but they do care about what a product does.
People don’t care about the specifications of an Apple iPod, they just care about this device being able to play their music. People don’t care about how a sink faucet works, they just want water to come out of it. People don’t care about how a car works, they just want it to be able to get them from A to B and provide all the luxuries in between.
I’m telling you all of this so that you will be able to close more sales and sponsor more distributors. Instead of leading with your company or product, try leading with the benefit of your product. If your company sells a liquid nutritional product, then promote the benefit of using the product. If you want to enroll more distributors onto your team, then be sure to lead with the benefit of passive income and owning a business. Your typical prospect isn’t joining network marketing because of company founders or the product being sold. They are joining to start a business and achieve a desired lifestyle. This is what you must lead with. You must sell the lifestyle and the freedom that comes along with it.
If you have been marketing and promoting just your products and company I urge you to STOP! One of the main reasons the majority of people in this industry fail is because they are doing just that. By optimizing your marketing campaigns and leading with benefits, you will notice an immediate transformation and be able to sell more product and sponsor more distributors, no matter what company you are partnered with. Think of how you can help your prospect before you think about the money.
Another thing to ask yourself is just how much do you support your product? It this a product you could endorse, even without the business opportunity attached to it? Is this a product you would sell your own family? If you can’t fully support the product your company is selling then I suggest you make like a tree and leave. One cardinal rule I live by is if I wouldn’t sell the product to my own mother, then I want absolutely nothing to do with the company. The above recommendations I included will only be advantageous to you if you have a product that provides a solution for people.
Hopefully you had some kind of epiphany during this article and you will begin to market your products and services the right way. There are far too many people being taught the wrong way to market. Focus on your customers and how they will benefit and everything else will follow.
