Recruiting In MLM. 5 Tips That Can Save Your Business

Recruiting in MLM is a nightmare for most marketers in the MLM profession.  There are a multitude of reasons why this is so, but the biggest reason seems to be FEAR OF REJECTION.  This is totally natural and myself, as well as hundreds of other now successful marketers, initially experienced this fear when starting out.

The purpose of this blog post is to provide you with 5 rock solid tips that if used properly, can enable you to double or triple your recruiting results, assuming you already have prospects to talk to.  I have personally used these 5 tips when I speak to prospects and they must be employed if you intend to succeed with recruiting in MLM.

1.  Treat Your MLM Like A REAL Business

I see this all the time and it makes me laugh at people who complain they can’t recruit anyone.  YOU CANNOT TREAT YOUR BUSINESS LIKE A HOBBY!   It is vitally important to your future success that you treat your MLM business like a REAL business.  From your daily tasks, lead generation, marketing and everything in between, you must take this seriously.  This means that you have to set a schedule (even part time) and stick to it. You must also generate targeted MLM leads and not just your family and friends.

2.  Conduct Your Recruiting As A Professional Interview

When you actually do get a prospect on the phone or in person you will want to put yourself in the position of an interviewer.  Now I know what you are thinking, “but Joey, I have never interviewed anyone!”  This absolutely does not matter.  Like anything else that is new, you will get comfortable with this position.  I say this because you must establish posture and direct the conversation when you are talking to prospects.  It puts you in a position that makes you and your business more attractive to your prospect.  If you let your prospect ask all the questions and dictate the conversation, the power is on their side and you can just forget about recruiting them.

3.  Ask Bigger And Better Questions

As quoted from the great Jeffery Combs, you must ask bigger and better questions to your prospects.  Ask them why they are interested in this type of business. Ask them what is the motivation for joining an MLM company.  Really dig deep to find out the underlying reason that your prospect is even on the phone with you.  When asking these questions you are attempting to find out if this prospects is a good fit for YOUR business.  After all, you don’t just want to recruit anyone and everyone.  The bigger and better the questions the bigger and better response you will get from your prospect.

4.  Do The Thing Your Are Most Afraid To Do

Now you are probably thinking I’m crazy after reading tip number 4.  But I’m not, seriously.  Typically, not doing the thing you are most afraid of is exactly what is holding you back.  Whether it’s picking up the phone, asking specific questions or trying to close the deal, JUST DO IT!  In case you ever wondered what the difference is between millionaires and the middle class, the difference is that millionaires do the things that middle class people don’t like to do.  That is why they are millionaires.  This includes recruiting in MLM.  Overcome your biggest fears and eventually you will become so comfortable doing them that you will wonder why you were so scared in the first place.

5.  Don’t Be Afraid To Let Go

Have you ever heard the saying “just let go?”  If you have not, this is a very powerful statement and one that I live by everyday.  I say this because the more needy you are and the more you think you MUST close the deal, the more these thoughts will get picked up by your prospects.  Understand that your prospect wants to join a leader, someone who can show them how to succeed in MLM.  Not someone who is desperate to recruit anyone and everyone.  This isn’t logical, but the more you seem like you don’t care, the more attractive you seem to become.  The prospects views this as you being very busy and if you don’t care whether or not you recruit this particular person, well, for some reason, your prospect will see you as a leader and want to join with you.
