Who Is The Perfect Prospect And How Can You Find Them?

by Joey Fratantoni on February 7, 2010

Network marketing, as you have already came to realize, is a business that is all about people.  To be more specific, it is all about finding the most qualified people, aka the perfect prospects, to help you build a large organization and create the highly attractive, passive income.  But what is the perfect prospect?  And how exactly do you find this person?

If you have ever attempted conventional business building practices such as home meetings, cold calling and warm market prospecting, you understand that it is somewhat difficult to find the best prospects.  Rejection is usually the outcome of such approaches and many new distributors are left feeling defeated and start to second guess the entire industry all together.  Be aware my friend, there is a much easier and smarter way to find the perfect prospect for your business.  Believe it or not, these people are out there and are looking for just what you offer.  But how can they find you?

Positioning.

The ability to position yourself well can allow you to be found by the most qualified and perfect people you need to grow a massive team and actually make this network marketing thing come to fruition.  Technology, and our ever increasing ability to connect with anyone, anywhere in the world, allows the proper positioning to happen and can link you with the perfect prospect.

The best piece of technology to accomplish this feat is unequivocally going to be the internet.  Using websites, email and precision marketing campaigns, you can customize ads to literally ‘attract’ the ultimate prospects for your business.  Imagine for a second, having the power to create a classified ad in the newspaper and having the exact people you want to target reading that ad.  This is the power of the internet and how thousands of network marketers have eliminated rejection and built huge downlines in record time!  This is not some fairy tale story and is incredibly real.

As useful and effective as the internet medium is, offline advertising can still be optimized to target the right people for your business.  It’s all about the ad.  Through laser focus and diligent research you can create ads that ‘speak’ directly to the exact target audience you want.  Consider this for an illustrative example.  You create an ad that targets potential home business owners, but instead of just targeting home business owners you can include requirements that will filter out any of the faulty prospects you may potentially deal with.  These requirements could include athletic experience, serious inquiries only or you could list a desired qualification such as sales experience.

Crafting a targeted ad, whether online or offline, allows you to pre-qualify your prospects before you even talk to them.  This way you only deal with motivated, entrepreneurial and professional inquiries that can increase your  chances of dealing with the ‘perfect prospect.’  The reason you want to do this is because it is YOUR BUSINESS.  In order to maximize your productivity from your team you want your team to be filled with people who get results.  Not people who will complain, need their hand held and lack in consistency.

Keeping this type of congruence in your entire advertising and marketing strategy will undoubtedly increase your profitability and the retention of your team.  Pair this with a well managed company and an in demand product and you will succeed in this industry.  But remember, it all starts with positioning yourself to be found by the perfect prospect.  Letting go of sub par performers and focusing more on producers will be to your absolute advantage.  You have to think of yourself as a CEO of a Fortune 500 company.  This is your business.  Who do you want working with you?

So who exactly is your perfect prospect?  Here is a list of some qualifications and characteristic traits to look for:

  • Past success in other industries
  • Good communication skills
  • Previous sales experience
  • Previous network marketing experience
  • Self starters
  • Athletes
  • Performers (actors, singers, etc.)
  • Outstanding military experience
  • Entrepreneurs
  • People who ‘get it’

There are a few others, but you get the point.  Keeping these people in mind and crafting your ads accordingly, will be of the highest benefit to you and your network marketing business.  The perfect prospect possesses one or more of these qualities and can help you realize your long term goals in this industry.  Make this part of your mantra: quality over quantity.
