Here’s a story to set the tone for this post.
Rewind 3 years ago…
I’m sitting on the couch watching a movie, minding my own business, when suddenly my phone rings. It’s my good friend and he says he has something REALLY important to tell me. With powerful conviction he says, “I’ve just joined this business opportunity that sells this cancer-killing super juice. You absolutely have to join! All you have to do is get 3 other people to join and have them get 3 and BAM you’re rich!”
Now I’m a logical guy and this sounds a little too good to be true. But because of the credibility my good friend has, I decide to check it out. So I decide to go with the premium package and within 2 weeks I have over $1,000 worth of this “super-juice” sitting in my house.
Now it’s time to start making big money.
I call up some leads I bought and refer to this genius call script. I pass out fliers, brochures and even give out free samples to everyone I know with a heartbeat. I’m on my phone every Wednesday at 9PM for the weekly pep talk from the companies top earners.
Reality check.
Two months in and I haven’t sponsored a soul. I’m now part of the no friends left (NFL) club and I still have boxes of this juice sitting in my dining room. To top things off, my friend (sponsor), who was the one that brought me into this silly fiasco, has just canceled his auto-ship and quit!
Now I’m left scratching my head and looking for answers…
Any of this sound familiar to you?
Well, believe it or not, this happens to millions of people each and every year. They join an MLM company high off emotion, thinking that this will be their chance to become rich and quit their crappy job.
This is the harsh reality of MLM my friend. So the big question is why do SO many people fail in MLM?
The answer is quite obvious, yet somehow eludes most who are searching for it. The reason why there is such a high failure rate in MLM is because most people do not possess the skills required to succeed and they typically don’t remain with their company long enough.
Building a thriving and profitable MLM organization is NOT as fast process. You don’t amass a downline of thousands of paying distributors in two months. You must exercise patience, remain consistent and set reasonable goals. Only by doing this will you ever succeed in this industry.
To top it off, you MUST work with a company that sells a product you believe in. How in the world can you expect people to join you and buy your company’s product if you don’t support it yourself?
As far as skills go you absolutely must be willing to learn lead generation, marketing, selling and sponsoring. Amongst all of these skills the most important one to ever learn is communication with people. This industry is all about relationships. It’s all about listening to your prospects’ needs and being able to offer a solution. People don’t join companies, they join other PEOPLE.
Your MLM income is a direct result of how many other people you can help and the value you offer.
The best solution I can recommend, especially if you are brand new is to first select a company with a product you support and would actually sell to your own mother. Then find someone in your company who is experiencing the results you want and FOLLOW THEM. Surround yourself with people who are going to help you succeed. Any top earner in this industry did not achieve his or her respective income overnight. IT TAKES TIME.
You can earn as much as you want in the MLM industry. You just have to take the time to do it.
I am curious to hear more of your personal MLM story. Make sure you leave a comment below and share it with the community. And if you have any other additional advice for MLM success feel free to include it.
Yours In Success,
