What’s The Big Deal With Videos?

by Joey Fratantoni on September 2, 2009

Now I know most of you are thinking ‘why in the world would
I market using videos on YouTube?’

And I’m sure many more of you have that YouTube myth in your
mind.  The myth that YouTube is a website just for:

-   teenage girls
-   funny videos
-   exploitation of women

Well I am here to tell you the facts. YouTube is the largest
video hosting website in the world and is visited by every
conceivable type of person, as well as teenage girls.  YouTube
also has many funny videos and videos that exploit women.

However…

This is not the only thing YouTube has to offer.  You can post
videos on YouTube about pretty much anything.  You can post a
video of your dog.  You can post a video of a beach.  You can
even post a how-to video on making a peanut butter & jelly
sandwich.

The fact is, there are so many people visiting YouTube that
your video will get viewed by many more people than you may think…

The Numbers…

Currently as I write this information YouTube is the THIRD most
visited website in the WORLD!

If you are wondering how I know this, I get my website traffic
information from Alexa.com.  Alexa tracks and records the
statistics for all website traffic.

Currently, according to Internet World Stats, the amount of
internet users worldwide is:

6,676,120,288 users

According to Alexa the percentage of global internet users who
visited YouTube in one day was:

18.87%

So let me do the math for you.

6,676,120,288 x 18.87% = 1,259,783,898.3

This means that there are 1,289,789,898 users on
YouTube worldwide!

In case that number did not sink in the first time, re-read it now!

That is over 1 BILLION people!

The amount of people who visit YouTube is absolutely MINDBLOWING!
Do you realize what this means for you and using YouTube as a
marketing medium?  It means  that you can use the power of video
to propel your business to new heights!

Imagine getting your message out to even a small percentage of
these people.  Believe me, people are looking for what you have
to say.  What better way to reach them, then through video?

And guess what?

YouTube is absolutely FREE!

Free.  That is hard to believe.  It’s hard to believe you can
use a website that is so powerful and can deliver your message
to thousands of viewers and doesn’t cost you a cent.
YouTube and video marketing is one element of what is called
social media.  Sites like YouTube, Facebook and Myspace are
considered social media.  This is because all you are doing on
these sites is interacting with people via the internet.
It’s just like you talking to someone in person.  The way
communication has evolved over the years with help from the
internet makes it that much easier to get your message across
to your prospects.

Are you tapping into this relatively new trend?

Here’s another interesting fact.  YouTube videos account for
over 50% of all online video.  So when you do a search on Google,
any video results that appear are more than likely going to
be from YouTube.

And guess what?

Google owns YouTube.

It’s pretty obvious that Google saw something in videos.
I’m sure they had a good feeling that videos would soon be
covering the internet one day.

So let me ask you a question.  If you are performing a search
on Google would you rather read 5 paragraphs to find your answer…

or

…WATCH A VIDEO?

I’m pretty certain most of you would choose the second option.
Videos are much more interactive and very relevant.  Google knows
this and that is why they include them in the majority of their
search results.

This method of marketing has allowed me to increase traffic to
my websites by over 30% this month alone and did not cost me
a thing.  You will have to commit some time to this like any
marketing but here is the best thing…

Once you post your videos you don’t have to touch them.  They
are little marketing machines that work for you all day and
all night.  They work for you during holidays.  And it only took
you about 30 minutes to record a video, produce it, upload it
to YouTube and work on a decent description.

Very powerful stuff!

***Notice***

YouTube, as of 2009, has tightened up their procedures and it
vitally important that you follow these guidelines to ensure
your account remains active:

1.  Do not upload duplicate content
2.  You may only have one YouTube user account
3.  Do not spam other users
4.  Always provide value, that people can use
5.  Keep your videos short and to the point.

So I am sure this information was helpful for you and will help
to expand your marketing arsenal.
